International Logistics (Online Live Training & In-Class Programme)
 Overview
Logistics is a strategic issue that companies must consider in their daily operations since it contributes to their success and competitiveness independently of the geographic market in which they run their business. As companies enlarge their business areas and get involved in the export/import business, logistics plays an even more critical role. The globalisation of production has obliged companies to procure or process materials from just about anywhere on the planet and to sell their products tailored to the needs of a wide range of consumer markets. The physical and informational flows through which materials and/or final goods are conveyed became more complex as materials, semi-processed goods and goods need to be positioned in the right manufacturing plants, warehouses, or even consumer markets. Activities such as packing and labelling, transport and insurance became important business areas of the international logistics arena as they sustain the implementation of international trade contracts. Moreover, the different transport modes, namely waterborne, air, rail, and road rather than competing against each other collaborate with each other, thus giving place to integrated transport systems. Other activities such as customs clearance emerge, and the role of intermediaries, for instance, customs brokers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, becomes more important since companies need, more than ever, to concentrate on their core activities to maintain their competitive market edge.
The objective of the Course is to increase Participants' international logistics background knowledge and understanding within a structured framework that combines existing knowledge with new and future-oriented perspectives. Participants will be able to devise optimal logistics/supply chain solutions for companies operating in the international environment. At the end of this Course, Participants will be able to:
