Multimodal Transport Management (Online Live Training & In-Class Programme)
 Overview
The implementation of an effective and efficient international logistics requires integrated transport systems to help to overcome continuous market pressures and enhance business strategies, which aim at reducing the overall logistics costs. Multimodal transport, which implies the combination of different transport modes, streamlines the logistics flow, thus resulting in better management of the supply chain. While taking advantage of the benefits offered by each transport mode to reduce their associated costs and maximise their efficiency, it simplifies consignment formalities, balance and settlement of claims, which economise on human and material resources and associated costs; moreover, it is considered a greener alternative to unimodal transport. The planning of multimodal transport to fulfil certain logistics functions is not an easy task. Such planning requires choosing the best combination of modes as well as the  best interfaces, which support its implementation. The choice of warehouses, dry ports, seaports among other nodes requires not only a deep knowledge of customers activities but also how to manage trade-offs so that the overall cost of transport is not affected by the additional handling incurred at those interfaces.
The objective of the Course is to provide Participants with background knowledge and competencies to improve their companies' transport operations. Participants will create an awareness regarding the challenges and opportunities that multimodal transport offers as well as of the obstacles that planners of multimodal transport need to overcome. At the end of this Course, Participants will be able to:
* Demonstrate the various components of multimodal transport;
* Understand the challenges and opportunities offered by multimodal transport;
* Identify the various modes of international multimodal transport and selection of the modes;
* Identify the various participants in multimodal transport;
* Understand the pricing system of multimodal transport;
* Evaluate the different modes of transport and combination of modes; and
* Develop more efficient multimodal transport services.

 Target Audience
The Course targets all Players and people interested in Maritime Economics and related issues. This target audience includes University Students, Importers / Exporters, Shippers, Shipping Companies, Vessel Operators, Shipping Agents, Freight Forwarders, Supply Chain Managers, 3PLs, Port Authorities, Port Terminal Operators, International and/or Intermodal Transport Companies, Maritime Lawyers, Consultants and other parties having a specific interest in the subject matter.

 Course Delivery
This Course can be delivered entirely either in an online live training environment or in a classroom environment. Whenever training is delivered in a classroom environment, Participants will be informed about the location where the Course takes place. Whenever training is delivered online, Participants will be informed about which platform is going to be used.
When the Course Registration is fully completed, each Participant will receive the instructions to access the Course. Course to be delivered in English.

 Documentation and/or Reading Materials 
Course Documentation and/or Reading Materials will be made available to Participants.
In the case of in-class training, Participants will receive the Documentation and/or Reading Materials in electronic format.
In the case of online training, Participants will receive the Documentation and/or Reading Materials either by email or by the eLearning platform. Notes for each module are often downloadable, and Participants can save them for their completing their studies.
Participants are requested to check their email regularly.
A list of recommended reading will be provided at the beginning of each Course. This recommended reading is not included in the Course Fee.

 Duration and Timetable
The Course has a duration of 42 hours.
Participants are required to attend the online classes, or the classes delivered in a classroom context as per the daily and weekly schedule foreseen for the Course. Information regarding the Course Dates (Start and End Dates), as well as the daily and weekly hours’ distribution foreseen for the Course, will be announced at the Training Plan & Calendar webpage. It will be necessary that Participants allocate additional time to carry out their studies and to perform the allocated tasks within the requested timeframes.

 Participation Conditions
For online training, the number of Participants is 8, although a maximum of 10 may be considered.
For training in a classroom context, the minimum number of Participants is 10.
The payment of the Course Fee can be made by 1) BANK TRANSFER, 2) PayPAL or 3) WESTERN UNION. Please note that charges apply for each of the above Payment Methods and are not included in the Course Fee. The final amount to be transferred by using any of these methods is the total amount calculated (Course Fee + Applied Charges). In case of Cancellation, the following conditions apply:

* Participants have the right to cancel their registration. To cancel the registration, send us an email indicating the Participant's name and the Course.

* For written Cancellations made until the Cancellation Deadline, Participants will receive a full refund of any payment made. However, a handling fee of 120 € will be charged.
* For written Cancellations made after the Cancellation Deadline, a penalty of 50% of the Course Price applies to compensate for damages incurred from last minutes dropouts.

Participants must have an attendance equal to or above 90% of the Course (this condition applies to both in-class and online class training). For additional information, please click here.

 Certificate
At the end of the Course, Participants will be entitled to a Course Participation Certificate as long as they have:
* Fulfilled all registration procedures;
* An attendance equal to or above 90% of the Course (this condition applies to both in-class and online class training);
* Carried out the allocated tasks given that they are an integral part of the Course (this condition applies to everyone and both in-class and online class training).
