Dry Cargo Shipping (Online Live Training & In-Class Programme)
 Overview
Dry cargo shipping, in opposition of tanker shipping, is responsible for the movement of a wide variety of dry cargo that is broadly classified into dry bulk and non-dry bulk cargo. While the variety of non-dry bulk cargo is wide in scope and is often carried on board of container vessels, the variety of dry bulk cargo is far more restricted and is carried onboard bulk vessels that allow their carriage in a loose form. As a result, the market witnesses two different ways of operating vessels, which are often classified as regular (often known as liner) or non-regular (often known as a tramp) shipping operations, which explains why this market has drawn the attention of many players. When crossing the types of cargoes, vessels, and operations, it is understood that dry bulk shipping market is an important segment of the dry sector as a whole and an important element of the global economy and trade. Dry bulk shipping is responsible for the carriage of a wide range of bulk commodities, shipped in large quantities, of which the so-called 5 major bulks (ore, coal, grain, phosphates, and bauxite) sustain the global industrial network and drive the world economic development. The industry is segmented by vessel size, where the largest vessels with 400,000 tons of deadweight capacity ply the oceans in the carriage of ore between Brazil and China. However, the inherent nature of its market structure makes it an inherently volatile industry, which witnesses both low level and high-level freight rates, where investment decisions regarding the acquisition of new vessels need proper assessments of the associated market risks.
The objective of this Course is to learn about the dry cargo shipping market and provide an insight into the commercial and operational aspects of the dry bulk shipping market segment, drawing Participants' attention to its peculiarities to improve their competencies and skills. At the end of this Course, Participants will be able to:
* Understand the difference between dry cargo shipping and bulk shipping;
* Identify the cargoes and the vessels that operate in this market;
* Understand how the dry bulk shipping market operates;
* Understand the commercial environment of the bulk shipping industry;
* Identify the contractual arrangements and their main clauses including laytime aspects;
