About Training
The paragraphs that follow provide information about our training programme general conditions. For additional information about the courses offered, please click on the “Training Plan & Calendar” webpage or contact us via email. The email contact is provided on the top of the page.
 
 Overview
The training falls within the scope of Distribution Channels and Logistics, Maritime Economics and Logistics and Maritime English and offers their Participants the necessary competencies (i.e. knowledge, skills and abilities) to improve their professional performance. It is of a technical nature, which highlights the theoretical and practical aspects of the business. The main objectives are:
  to develop Participants' knowledge so that they can understand the behaviour of Distribution Channels and Logistics, and Maritime Economics;
  to develop Participants' knowledge in what concerns Logistics and Maritime English;
  to improve the communications among the different players within the scope of Distribution Channels and Logistics, and Maritime Economics;
  to promote Participants' professional development by improving their global competencies;
  to update Participants’ existing knowledge and emphasise the practical knowledge about a variety of relevant topics; and
  to explore new areas of interest.
Training specific objectives are associated to the objectives of each Course. They aim at developing each Participants' professional skills and competencies within the scope of the Course being delivered. Training will be updated following the feedback received so that it meets market needs.
The delivered training is extensive in scope and comprehends an array of courses, which emphasise the importance of Maritime Economics and consequently of Maritime Transport. Maritime Economics integrates a range of activities, which support the economic activities that originate the flows of goods traded regionally and internationally.  Target Audience

The courses target all players and people interested in Maritime Economics and related issues. This target audience includes University Students, Importers / Exporters, Shippers, Shipping Companies, Vessel Operators, Shipping Agents, Freight Forwarders, Supply Chain Managers, 3PLs, Port Authorities, Port Terminal Operators, International and/or Intermodal Transport Companies, Maritime Lawyers, Consultants and other parties having a specific interest in the subject matter.

 Registration

In order to participate in the several Courses, there are no requested precedencies, unless such is stated in the Course Presentation Sheet. However, the Participants' profile needs to be aligned with the contents of the Course. Course registration includes both enrolment and payment activities.

The enrolment for each Course is to be performed through the Online Course Registration Form. Participants need to provide the requested information within the timeframe indicated in the Course Presentation Sheet. The submission of the Online Course Registration Form implies that Participants accept the conditions foreseen for each Course.

Registration implies the Course payment. Payment must be done after the enrolment has been confirmed and within the timeframe indicated in the Course Presentation Sheet. Participants and/or Institutions responsible for the registration must:
  meet the Enrolment and Payment deadlines;
  respect the filling criteria of the Online Registration Form fully; and
  agree with the objectives and contents of the Course.
Registration will only be valid, only after we have verified that payment has been performed and confirm Participants / Institutions in writing. If we do not provide any feedback within the 48 hours timeframe, please send an email to Ana Casaca. Priority is given to registrations entrance order.

The Course will take place subject to the number of Participants indicated in the Course Presentation Sheet.

 Cancellations
Participants and/or Institutions have the right to cancel the Registration. Further details about the Cancellation's Policy can be found in the Course Presentation Sheet.

 Participation Conditions
Participation in the Course requires:
  the fulfilment of the Course enrolment procedures;
  the payment of the Course fee;
  an attendance equal to or above 90% of the Course (this condition applies to both in-class and online class training);
  the realisation of the allocated tasks given that they are an integral part of the Course (this condition applies to both in-class and online class training);
  for the online class training, Participants must have access to a computer with Internet connection, compatible operating systems, web browsers and an email account. Participants must also be familiar with the usage of a computer for sending/receiving emails or Internet searching.

All Participants who fulfil with the above conditions are eligible for a Course Participation Certificate.

 Guarantee of Course Realisation
The realisation of the Course in the foreseen dates is guaranteed, except in cases of force majeure. In the case of Course Cancellation, we guarantee the return of the full amount charged. In the case of Course Postponement, we guarantee to transfer the full amount charged to another Registration in case Participants / Institutions agree with such transfer.

 Documentation and Recommended Reading
Participants will receive the corresponding Course documentation and supporting material at the beginning or during the Course, depending upon the type of training. A list of recommended reading will be provided in the beginning of each Course; this recommended reading is not included in the Course Fee.

 Course Fees
Course fees vary per Course contents and duration. The fees charged imply that Participants:
  attend the Course based on its publicised announcements;
  have access to the corresponding Course documentation and supporting material; and
  receive a Course Participation Certificate as long as they have fulfilled with the Participation Conditions mentioned above.
The fees charged neither include the expenses allocated to Participants' travelling and/or accommodation and/or meals not foreseen in the in-class training nor the expenses allocated for fulfilling with the online class training requirements. Moreover, the list of recommended reading is not included in the course fees. The non-fulfilment of the payment within the expected deadline implies the Cancellation of the Registration.

 Payment Methods
Payment can be made by 1) BANK TRANSFER, 2) PayPAL or 3) WESTERN UNION. Please note that charges apply for each of the above Payment Methods and are not included in the Course Fee. The final amount to be transferred by using any of these methods is the total amount calculated (Course Fee + Applied Charges). For all payment methods, the Registration will only be valid after we verify the amount paid and confirm to Participants/Institutions in writing. The charges applied for each Payment Method are presented below.
 
BANK TRANSFER
In the case payment is made by Bank Transfer, the full charges (applied by Bank of Origin + Destination Bank) are the responsibility of Participants / Institutions and will be paid at the origin. They apply to all national and international bank transfers.
If this is the option, Bank account details will be forward by email.
  Please make sure that the names of the Participant and of the Institution are clearly indicated as well as the name of the Course.
  Please notify Ana Casaca that the bank transfer has been carried out and attach a copy of the bank transfer receipt.
 
PayPAL
In the case payment is made by PayPAL, we will add charges to the invoice to be sent to you by email since these depend upon the country of origin. The following charges apply:
  For the EU and EEA Countries (Norway, Iceland, and Lichtenstein) the rate applied amounts to 3.4% of the total to be transferred plus a fixed rate of €0.35.
  For the remaining Countries, the rate applied amounts to 3.9% of the total to be transferred plus a fixed rate of €0.35.
Please perform the payment in EUROS to avoid an additional exchange rate tax of 2.5%.
 
WESTERN UNION
In the case payment is made by Western Union, charges are the responsibility of Participants / Institutions and will be paid at the origin. When this method is used:
  Make the transfer in the name of Ana Cristina Ferreira Castela Paixão Casaca, City: Lisboa, Country: Portugal.
  Please make sure that the names of the Participant and of the Institution are clearly indicated as well as the name of the Course.
  Please notify Ana Casaca that your Western Union transfer has been carried out and send the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

 Duration and Timetable
Course duration and timetable will be presented in the Course Presentation Sheet. This depends upon the type of training.
